Josh Koscheck has decided that he will fight at the UFC 184 but won’t be pitted against Neil Magny his fellow welterweight. Koscheck was originally made a target to matchup against Magny but now will be fighting against fellow veteran Jake Ellenberger.
The news was announced today by the UFC officials via dailynews.com. The UFC 184 will take place on 28th February and the featured games for championships fights will be both women’s bantamweight division and middleweight.
The championship will be held at Staples Centre in Los Angeles and the main card will air on pay-per-view systems on FOX Sports 1 and UFC fight Pass. It is still not clear as to where the Koscheck vs. Ellenberger match will be placed on the lineup.
Koscheck, who has been a cast member of the debut season of “The Ultimate Fighter”, has always been a mainstay in the welterweight division of UFC for almost ten years now. Even though the 37 years old fighter has reached the peak of his career in 2010, he has faced a few failures in getting the title of a welterweight in the fight against the reigning champ of then Georges St-Pierre and recently, he has also struggled after enduring three losses. The other failures were from the current champ Johny Hendricks and other fellow fighters Robbie Lawler and Tyron Woodley.
Now, Koscheck will be facing a fellow notable fighter, Ellenberger who is a onetime surging contender but has been going through rough times recently. The 29 year old fighter is also stuck is a skid of three times after facing losses to Kelvin Gastelum, Rory MacDonald and Lawler. Before facing the recent setbacks, Ellenberger was having a very impressive 8-1 run.
